Chris specialises in commercial litigation and insolvency.  His clients are varied and many are located overseas. 

His focus is to advise clients on effective dispute resolution covering a broad range of issues e.g. from shareholder disputes, contractual claims, professional negligence claims to debt/asset recovery. 

Chris advises many insolvency practitioners and other clients on all aspects of insolvency-related issues, and has become an acknowledged expert in the field of “phoenix companies”. 

He is a member of R3 (Association of Business Recovery Professionals) and until recently a contributing author to “Enforcement of Money Judgments” and “Attachment of Earnings” published by Juris Publishing in the US. He has undertaken arbitration and mediation cases both in England and internationally. 

Recent cases include:

  • The recovery of high value assets in Switzerland and Belgium on behalf of a trustee in bankruptcy.
  • Two Court of Appeal decisions regarding Sections 216/217 of the Insolvency Act 1986.
  • Acting for a number of shareholders in respect of unfair prejudice petitions and derivative claims. 
  • Acting for developers and residents with regard to issues arising in the context of the River Thames.
  • Defending claims against customs clearance agents arising from technical issues with HMRC clearance system.
  • Advising international clients with regard to claims in the UAE in excess of €63,000,000 arising from trading in crude oil

In his spare time Chris supports Dorking Rugby Club (where the firm is the main sponsor), Scotland rugby and is currently learning to play the guitar with the aim of writing the winning song for the Eurovision Song contest.  He is also an amateur oenologist having acted for a number of wine companies. 

Chris became Senior Partner in July 2015.
