May 2014
Downs were delighted to once again sponsor and play in the Services and Forces Charity Golf Day. This year's event which took place at Wentworth Golf Club commemorated the centenary of World War 1. All the golfers dressed up in plus fours and flat caps, as was the normal golfing attire in 1914. Despite the wet, dreary weather, a great day was had by all. Golfers represented the Prince of Wales Royal Regiment, Hampshire Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue, Headley Court, Guildford Rotary Club, Surrey ACF and Battle Back.
Battle Back is a military initiative designed to introduce injured service personnel to sports and adventurous training activities thus returning them to a more normal active lifestyle and aiding in their physical and psychological rehabilitation.
