Downs are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to Godalming-based Scout, Ethan Glen’s fundraising efforts. Ethan is one of three Scouts from Godalming who have been selected to attend the 2019 World Scout Jamboree in the USA. So far he has raised about £600 offline so still has a way to go to reach his target. However, he has a few big fundraising actvities planned for the next six months - sponsored Munro walk (big mountains), a quiz night and a school mufti day.
The jamboree is a gathering of scouts from all over the world, who meet up and learn about each other's culture and language ... and have lots of outdoor adventures! It happens once every four years and this time is in West Virginia, America. Ethan said “My fundraising efforts will help Scouts from less developed countries also attend the Jamboree. I will stay with a Scouting family in the USA, Canada or Mexico, to experience life in a different country and support their local community projects.
