A charity netball tournament has raised £1000 for St Catherine’s Hospice.

The tournament was organised by staff members Diane and Trevor Sumpter, and was held at Lingfield College in Surrey who generously allowed us to use their courts and facilities for free.

With a mix of adrenaline, trepidation and joie de vivre, the players took to the courts, many of whom had not stepped onto a court since school and for some that was a long time ago!  The teams were mixed, with a maximum of two men per team, and the matches were played in good spirit, with the odd penalty but no sending offs.

The tournament money was raised through the entry fees, a raffle and refreshments.   Raffle prizes were kindly donated by Cote, Dorking, The Fox Revived, Norwood Hill, with Costa, Dorking and Waitrose, Dorking kindly donating the insulated cups for the refreshments.

Below is the Downs team captained by Senior Partner, Chris Millar, who was also the team's Goal Shooter.
