Westcott Sports Club (WSC) and Downs Solicitors are delighted to announce that Downs has become the sponsor for the Westcott Wizards, the thriving junior section of Westcott Cricket Club.
Westcott has had a registered cricket side dating back to 1869 and WSC manages the Stable Meadow facility at Westcott which is home to Westcott 1935 senior football club and Westcott Cricket club.
Since the appointment of new Trustees, WSC has set about improving the ground and infrastructure over the past two years which had become deteriorated. It was hoped that this might attract new players to the club, and a new focus on youthful development and inclusivity helped to put the club on a strong and sustainable financial footing.
The club is progressing extremely well and according to WSC Chairman of Trustees, Richard Green, the ground looks better than it ever has. The clubhouse is welcoming and comfortable for visitors and teams are starting to flourish.
WSC is working with Surrey Hills Church of England primary school on an exciting new initiative; the Surrey Hills Cricket Academy (also sponsored by Downs) which opened on 14th June and which will run until the end of the current school term, offering coaching to year 5 and 6 pupils.
WSC’s agreement with Downs underpins future plans and supports core values, including wellbeing, inclusivity, sustainability and excellence.
From Downs’ perspective, an association with the Westcott Wizards and the SHCA, is a great privilege and we look forward to helping the Trustees fulfil their vision for sport and wellbeing in the Westcott community.
