Downs has announced official sponsorship of Cobham Area Foodbank to help towards the cost of replacing the Foodbank’s van, which is used to collect food from donation points in the local churches and supermarkets, to take it to and from the Foodbank’s warehouse, ready to be distributed at the Foodbank’s distribution  centre. Downs now proudly sports its name on the side of Cobham Foodbank’s newly-acquired refurbished Mercedes Sprinter van, which started its rounds this week. Cobham Area Foodbank, an independent charity, subscribes the Trussell Trust national food bank network, to which over 400 food banks across the UK subscribe.

Cobham Area Foodbank provides food, toiletries and other necessities to people in need in the Cobham, Oxshott, Stoke D’Abernon and Horsleys area, who have obtained a food voucher from one of the 37 agencies appointed by the Foodbank to assess clients’ needs. Hugh Bryant, General Manager and Trustee at Cobham Area Foodbank says: “No one in our community should face going hungry.

Our van is a vital resource that will really make a difference to our community, and we are grateful to our sponsors, such as Downs Solicitors, whose generosity has enabled us to remain well equipped. We’d like to thank them very much for their support.” Mehboob Dharamsi, a Private Client Partner at Downs says: “Downs is delighted to be associated with the Cobham Area Foodbank for this excellent initiative and extremely worthy cause.

We pride ourselves in being at the heart of the community and welcome any opportunity to give a little something back. We are very much looking forward to seeing the new van driving around town and we are pleased to be associated with such a project.”
