Senior Partner, Chris Millar and Associate, Simone Horrobin, recently hosted a delegation from the Supreme Court of Japan which is located in Tokyo.
The delegation included Judge Ichita Matsunaga, Supreme Court of Japan, General Secretariat, Administrative Affairs Bureau, Mr Yoichi Iwata, Senior Staff, General Secretariat, Information Policy Division and Mr Naoya Maeda, Legal Attaché of the Embassy of Japan, London.
The Supreme Court of Japan is interested in introducing electronic procedures to their trial procedure and wanted to hear the experiences of our lawyers who are using digital court systems in England and Wales.
Jonathan McNae, Counsel of Selborne Chambers, also joined the discussions to provide guidance on the latest proposals for electronic disclosure.
Discussions were followed by lunch at Middle Temple Hall, one of the four Inns of Court established in the 14th century.
