It’s going to be a busy year in the world of employment law, as several significant changes come into play from 6th April this year, affecting things like maternity pay, sick leave and redundancies, so make sure you’re aware of the new rules.

Statutory redundancy pay |
The current limit on a statutory week’s pay is £571. |
The limit on a statutory week’s pay will be £643. |
Unfair dismissal |
The current cap on the compensatory award is £93, 878. |
The cap will increase to £105,707. |
Family related benefits (statutory maternity, adoption, paternity and shared parental pay) |
The current prescribed rate is £156.66 per week. |
The prescribed rate will rise to £172.48 per week. |
Statutory sick pay (SSP) |
The current SSP rate is £99.35 per week. |
SSP will increase to £109.40 per week. |
Employers will be expected to comply with these new rates, so you will need to familiarise yourself with them as it will affect any employed staff from 6th April.
