In an effort to combat property fraud, the Land Registry are currently trialling a new alert service called 'Property Alert' which is aimed at helping the public to protect themselves against property fraud.

Property Alert is a free monitoring service for anyone who might be concerned that their registered property could be at risk from fraud. It will be particularly useful in respect of empty properties, which can be targeted by fraudsters.

Once you have signed up to the service, you will receive email alerts when official searches and applications are received against your monitored properties, allowing you to take action if necessary. You can monitor upto three properties but the properties must be registered with the Land Registry. For more information on this beta service click here.
